What is A
Community Fund?

The Community Fund is a permanent charitable resource designed to support local causes and organizations. Through individual donations – large and small – a local advisory board is able to make grants to meet the needs and vision of the community. We partner with individuals, businesses and nonprofits to make Woodford County a better place to live, learn, work and play.

Spotlight:
From the table
to the streets

On March 27, 2019 the Woodford County Community Fund hosted On The Table conversations at three locations in our community. Over 150 residents participated in open and respectful discussions about ways our county can be more welcoming and inclusive. On The Table is a national initiative supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and launched in our region by Blue Grass Community Foundation. Over 11,000 participants gathered around tables throughout Woodford, Fayette, and Clark Counties to have friendly, civil conversations about this topic and how their community can respond.

To encourage Woodford Countians to turn their ideas into action, the Woodford County Community Fund (partnering with other generous donors) will award action grants responding to needs identified in our On The Table conversations. The Woodford County Community Fund is seeking innovative proposals to address:

  • Cultural heritage and diversity,
  • Public space and public conversations,
  • Welcoming newcomers to the community,
  • Partnerships to address accessibility, and
  • Telling our story as a community.

Proposals advancing other worthy ideas that benefit Woodford County are also encouraged. Grant recipients will be announces at our 2nd Annual "Grant Shebang" in early 2020 — date and location TBD. For more information, and to submit your proposal, click here.
