For the past 16 years, Magoffin County Community Day has been a celebration of fellowship with lively music and good food, but it has also been instrumental in helping Magoffin County’s local nonprofits and civic groups raise the funds for all the good things they do for the community. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, hosting an in-person event in the park was not feasible. But the need was still there, so instead of a one-day event, the 2020 Magoffin County Community Day fundraising was hosted online August 10-31.

The Magoffin County Community Fund issued a challenge to the community: For every $1 raised, the fund would match it with $2, up to $35,000! The community rose to the challenge by donating $38,962.98! The match was met, bringing the 2020 Magoffin County Community Day fundraising total to $73,962.38. All money raised was split equally among the 18 participating nonprofit organizations.

Magoffin countians did their part by staying apart, but they worked together to create a better future for Magoffin County!
