Harrison County Community Fund Downtown Restaurant Relief Challenge Match

January 20, 2021

The Harrison County Community Fund, a component fund of Blue Grass Community Foundation, is issuing a $5,000 challenge match to the community: all donations to the Harrison County Community Fund made through February 5 will be matched dollar for dollar, with proceeds going to provide relief to qualifying downtown Cynthiana restaurants.

The Harrison County Community Fund is coordinating with Cynthiana Main Street to facilitate the match and grantmaking. Funds will be distributed to the downtown Cynthiana restaurants affected by the reduced dining room capacity guidelines during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Downtown Cynthiana’s Restaurants have been hit the hardest,” said Stephanie Burden, executive director of Cynthiana Main Street, Inc. “With indoor dining capacity still at 50%, our restaurants need help now, more than ever. This grant opportunity came at the perfect time.”

“The Cynthiana community is blessed to have the Harrison County Community Fund,” said Mayor Smith. “They were a source of help last year when our downtown community was hit hard by COVID-19 closures. Now, as our local restaurant community faces one of its toughest times, the Harrison County Community Fund is stepping up again to partner with our Cynthiana Main Street program with this $5,000 grant for downtown restaurants. Their impact can be doubled with a $5,000 match from our community members like you. Consider partnering with us to meet this opportunity to help.”
