February 24, 2021Education

The Clark County Community Foundation, in conjunction with an anonymous Clark County donor, is pleased to announce a grant of $240,000 to Clark County Public Schools to provide food and basic necessities to pre-school through 6th grade students and families in need. The donation will be divided equally among the Clark County pre-school, four elementary schools and Baker Intermediate school.

At least 600 Clark County families will receive assistance, with priority access going to low-income families. Family Resource Center Officers at each school will identify families in need and provide food staples and necessities of up to $400 per family.

“Clark County is a wonderful and generous community, but COVID-19 has had a huge impact” says Alex Rowady, Chair of the Clark County Community Foundation Board of Advisors. “Many young people and families are suffering. Providing access to food and necessities to our students and their families is of the upmost importance. We are very lucky to have local donors focused on addressing these needs, and the Clark County Community Foundation is happy to provide additional funding to assist as many students and families as possible.”

“On behalf of our Clark County Public Schools family, we are so appreciative of this kind and generous offer of support from the Clark County Community Foundation and the local donor for our students and their families,” stated Paul Christy, Clark County Public Schools Superintendent.

Family Resource Center Officers at qualifying schools will begin working with families in March and will continue until all funds have been exhausted.
