12th Annual GoodGiving Challenge Launches on Giving Tuesday
Record number of nonprofits participating in region’s biggest online giving event
Get ready for Central and Appalachia Kentucky’s most generous week of giving because the GoodGiving Challenge is back and bigger than ever! With a record-breaking 200 local nonprofits to support, and daily match challenges totaling more than $600,000, the GoodGiving Challenge is the easiest, most fun way to give back to deserving Bluegrass organizations this holiday season!
The GoodGiving Challenge, hosted by Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing, is a week-long online giving campaign that runs from 9 a.m. on Giving Tuesday, November 29, to 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 2. Giving is as easy as online shopping when donors visit BGgives.org. There, donors can read about the work of the 200 nonprofits, donate using the convenient online platform and stay up to date with fun challenges and leaderboards.
Since its inception in 2011, the GoodGiving Challenge has raised $17 million total for nonprofits in the Bluegrass. Last year, the Challenge raised $2.9 million for 179 local nonprofits through more than 13,080 gifts made in 90 counties across Kentucky, 47 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Canada, Germany and Korea.
Whether you are a seasoned giver or want to celebrate the upcoming new year with a first-time gift, everyone can be a philanthropist during the GoodGiving Challenge! The low minimum donation amount of $10 and the fun, easy-to-use giving site simplifies the giving process and connects donors to new philanthropic causes. In 2021, one-third of donors gave to a new nonprofit for the first time.
