Black Lexington Has Always Given

For generations, generosity has moved through Lexington’s Black community through churches, families, neighborhoods, businesses, and community leaders sharing their time, resources, knowledge, and connections.

LBPI was created in 2020 to carry that legacy forward while addressing the continued underinvestment experienced by Black communities and the organizations that serve them.

An initiative of Blue Grass Community Foundation and guided by local community leaders, LBPI brings people and resources together to support community-rooted solutions, strengthen Black-serving organizations, and build a permanent source of funding for generations to come.

Through collective giving, grantmaking, nonprofit support and community engagement, we help move resources closer to the people who understand the community and are already creating meaningful change. We also create opportunities for donors, residents, organizations and partners to learn from one another and take part in building a stronger Lexington.
