BGCF365 Announces $30,000 in Grant Opportunities to Foster Thriving Communities in Fayette County

BGCF365 at Blue Grass Community Foundation is excited to announce a funding opportunity to support projects and programs aimed at removing barriers to vital resources for Fayette County adults and families. This initiative seeks to create and sustain projects that empower individuals and families to thrive by addressing challenges such as employment, transportation, childcare, safe housing and other essential opportunities. BGCF365 is committed to breaking down barriers that hinder community members from accessing critical resources and participating in opportunities for personal and collective prosperity.

Key details of the grant opportunity:

  • Grant Amounts: Proposals with project budgets of at least $15,000 will be considered. Grants in the amounts of $15,000, $10,000, and $5,000 will be awarded based on BGCF365 membership votes.
  • Grant Categories: Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, workforce development, adult education and training, transportation, childcare, housing, financial growth tools/opportunities, mental health/counseling programs, conflict resolution, community involvement, legal counseling, re-entry/second chance hiring, and access to basic needs.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Organizations must be located in and serve Fayette County. They must be classified as a nonprofit public charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code or have a fiscal sponsor. Other public institutions or entities with a designated charitable purpose (such as a school or unit of government) are also eligible. Applicants must hold a Candid Gold Seal of Transparency, or higher.
  • Application Deadline: February 23, 2024, by 11:59 pm
  • Finalist Presentations: May 2024
  • Grant Period: May 2024 – April 2025

This competitive grantmaking process involves a review by the BGCF365 Steering Committee, with three finalists presenting their proposals at the annual meeting in May 2024. Funding decisions will be determined by membership votes. The grant program prioritizes proposals that specifically target disparities in resources based on socioeconomic status, race and ethnicity, and recovery or re-entry status.
